Errors
1285 Insufficient GPU RAM (Previously OutOfMemory)
This error is not due to lack of storage space on the device, but may be due to lack of RAM or graphics resources. If you receive this error, please try the following steps.
1. Reboot your device.
2. Make sure no other apps (especially video players or screen recorders) are running
If 1 & 2 don't work, you may need to simplify your project. From 2.5.1 onwards, there will a timecode at the bottom of the error message as can be seen below after the "@".
Go to this time (in this case 8:23) in your project, and try any of the following steps.
1. Reduce the number of effects being used at once, especially blurs, glows, and edging effects.
2. Reduce the number of simultaneous video clips being used at once. Even if they are not seen they may use resources to export.
If these steps don't work, please visit https://alightmotion.com/performanceguide for more information on how you can use less resources in your projects.
Export always stops at X%
If a particular project always stops exporting at the same percentage value every time, then look at that point on the timeline to find the clip causing the problem. For example, if export fails at 25% and the project is 8 minutes long, look at 25% of 8 minutes, or 2:00:00, to find what might be causing the problem. It might be that there is a part of your project that is using too many resources for your device to handle.
Video Exports Successfully But Video Clip Thumbnail Flashes on Screen
Video files that have been taken from DVRs or similar technology can sometimes have errors in encoding that will cause a thumbnail from the video to appear in the first frame. This will not appear during editing but it will appear in export. This is currently a known issue with Alight Motion, and we can offer the following workarounds.
1. Trim the first few frames from your video when you import it into Alight Motion
2. Convert all of your affected video files to fix the encoding issue before importing into Alight Motion
